A compression splice is a specialised connector used to create a secure and reliable electrical connection between two powerline conductors. It is designed to ensure efficient power transfer and maintain the integrity of the electrical system.

Features

  • Secure Connectionย
  • Efficient Power Transferย
  • High Conductivityย
  • Mechanical Strengthย
  • Corrosion Resistanceย
  • Easy Installation

OH&S Considerations

  • Electrical Safety: Powerlines carry high voltages, posing a significant electrical hazard. Prior to commencing any compression splice repair work, workers must follow proper lockout/tagout procedures, de-energize the powerline, and ensure it is properly grounded. Insulated tools and equipment should be used, and workers should receive training on safe electrical work practices.ย
  • Fall Protection: Compression splice repairs may require working at heights, such as on poles or towers. Workers must utilize proper fall protection equipment, such as harnesses, lanyards, and anchor points, to prevent falls and minimize the risk of injuries.ย
  • Equipment Safety: Inspecting and maintaining equipment used for compression splice repairs is crucial to ensure worker safety. Tools and equipment should be regularly checked for damage, wear, or malfunctioning parts. Faulty equipment should be repaired or replaced promptly to mitigate potential hazards.ย
